Dr. Elkins

Tina Elkins, MD, moved to Athens, Texas in July 2005 from Houston, Texas. She moved to a rural town to be able to practice all aspects of ENT such as difficulty breathing due to septal deviation or tonsil enlargement, chronic sinusitis, ear infections, throat infections, hearing loss, thyroid surgery, skin cancers or head and neck cancer. She enjoys being able to work with all ages, newborn to geriatric. 

Prior to starting medical school, she graduated with honors from Texas Tech Health Sciences Center with a degree in Communication Disorders, giving her exposure to understanding speech disorders as well as hearing loss.  When not in school, Dr. Elkins focused on research in head and neck cancers and pediatric sleep apnea.

While attending medical school at UT- Houston, Dr. Elkins continued to work in head and neck cancer research at MDAnderson Cancer Center. She graduated in the top three of her class in 2000 and served on numerous committees during medical school. She was also elected President of the Alpha Omega honor society and an Outstanding Woman in Medicine.

Dr. Elkins completed her general surgery internship at UT- Houston in 2001, and then joined the ENT program, completing her residency in 2005. During her time in residency she was nominated to the committee on International Hearing Loss with the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. She also worked on numerous publications, presented at national meetings on pediatric sleep apnea, and assisted in developing a new technique for performing neonatal tracheostomy.

Dr. Elkins maintains a Texas Medical License and is board certified in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. Since graduating, she has studied the use of numerous minimally invasive techniques, becoming certified in sinuplasty balloon surgery (in office and in hospital), eustachian tube insufflation for correction of middle ear dysfunction, and in correction of nasal valve collapse which results in difficulty breathing.

Dr. Elkins is currently an active staff member at ETMC-Athens and Palestine Regional Medical Center in Palestine, TX.   She served as Chief of Surgery at ETMC-Athens in 2008, and Chief of Staff at ETMC-Athens in both 2011 and 2016.

Dr. Lehr

Andrew Lehr, MD, was born in Iowa, spent much of his childhood in east Texas, and graduated from high school in Longview in 1982. He received a BA in chemistry from Baylor University in 1986. His medical school education was obtained at University of Texas Southwestern. After a general surgery internship, Dr. Lehr completed his residency training in Otolaryngology / Head & Neck Surgery at University of Texas Southwestern in 1996.  Dr. Lehr has practiced in San Angelo and Waco, Texas, as well as most recently in Boone, North Carolina.  He is board certified in Otolaryngology and is a fellow of the  American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy.

Dr. Lehr treats (performing surgery as indicated) a broad spectrum of ear, nose, and throat conditions, including allergy and sinus problems, pediatric and adult ear and throat infections, hearing loss, thyroid disease, head and neck cancer, and skin cancers.

Dr. Lehr is excited to have returned to the east Texas area to practice in this community
